Seeking: Set Designer/Production Manager
The La Crosse Community Theatre, a professionally staffed, volunteer-based theatre, seeks a Set Designer/Technical Director. Located on the border of Wisconsin and Minnesota, LCT produces a 7 show season of musicals, plays and children’s theatre in a proscenium theatre of 300. The Set Designer/Technical Director is responsible for all physical aspects of the theatres, including design and build of sets, technical direction of productions, purchasing supplies, lighting, sound and props. The Set Designer/Technical Director will be responsible for soliciting and supervising volunteer crews. Qualifications include: A Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, or an undergraduate college degree in a related area or a combination of academic and professional experience demonstrating required skills. MFA desired. Individual should possess: technical knowledge of all aspects of theatre – scene painting, drafting, lighting, sound, carpentry, properties, and rigging; strong organizational skills; excellent communication skills; a calm demeanor; strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to multitask and work at a fast pace with minimal supervision; a commitment to excellence and superior customer service; ability to meet deadlines and work in a high-pressure atmosphere; must be familiar with OSHA regulations and Theatre Safety. Experience in set design required, light and sound design preferred. Individual must be able to regularly lift 50 lbs. and climb a ladder in excess of 12 ft. This position requires working extended hours, some weekends and evenings.
LCT is in the middle of a capital campaign and is poised to transition to a 30,000 sq foot building with two performance spaces loaded with upgraded light and sound equipment.
Full time position will begin January 2, 2012
Salary 25k-30k, commensurate with qualifications and experience, benefits package includes health, paid vacation and 401K.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Casting
- Rehearsing
- Coordinating the efforts of other artistic staff members, namely: music director, choreographer, scenic designer, costume designer, lighting designer, and technical director to insure the finest artistic achievement possible.

Guest Choreographers
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Assisting in casting.
- Teaching and rehearsing the dancing to performance level.
- Collaborating with the Director on the entire movement of the show.
- Collaborating with the rest of the production staff to insure the highest artistic achievement possible.
