Announcing Auditions for 2016-2017 Season Opener “Sister Act”
La Crosse Community Theatre will hold auditions for their 2016-2017 season opener, the musical Sister Act July 25-26, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Weber Center for the Performing Arts, 428 Front Street South, La Crosse, WI. Open Auditions for ages 16-65 will be held Monday and Tuesday evening and callbacks will be held on Wednesday, July 27.
First-time auditionees are welcome, with no experience necessary. All actors are asked to prepare a thirty second song from a musical or movie. An accompanist will be provided. There will also be a dance audition. There are 16-20 roles available for men and women ages 16 and up.
Sister Act is the feel-good musical comedy smash based on the hit 1992 film, and features original music by Alan Menken, and lyrics by Glenn Slater. When showgirl Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, the police hide her in the one place they’re sure the mob won’t find her: a convent! Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the parish as she discovers the power of her newly fund sisterhood. Sister Act is rated Theatre PG.
Performances are Thursdays through Sundays, September 9-25, 2016. The cast list will be announced on the morning show of WXOW on Friday, July 29, as well as online and on the stage door. The first cast meeting will be Monday, August 1, at 6:30 pm, at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts. Rehearsals are scheduled for Mondays through Fridays.
