La Crosse Community Theatre offers classic musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie”
La Crosse Community Theatre concludes its celebration of 50 years with the classic musical Thoroughly Modern Millie beginning May 9 and continuing through May 25, 2014. Performances are Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m, and will be in the 450-seat Lyche Theatre of the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.
Thoroughly Modern Millie is the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the big city with plans to marry a man for money instead of love. She soon finds out that the big city has other plans. Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men, a villainess audiences will love to hate, and the most irrepressible heroine to ever step off the bus! The play won a 2002 Tony Award for Best Musical.
Thoroughly Modern Millie‘s music is by Jeanine Tesori; lyrics are by Dick Scanlan. The book is by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan. The show will be directed by David R. Kilpatrick, with music directed by Peter Bosgraaf, conducting by Jeff Copp, choreography by Anna Taylor, set design by Dillon McArdle, lighting design by David R. Kilpatrick, costume design by Mandy Parmeter and stage management by Laura Weber.
