LCT Announces Comedy, ‘Fools’

La Crosse, WI – 09/10/18 – La Crosse Community Theatre announces that tickets go on sale Monday, September 17, 2018 for Fools. Performances begin October 11, 2018, and continue through Sunday, October 21, 2018. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in the Lyche Theatre at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

Leon Tolchinsky is ecstatic: he’s landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic village. He arrives to find people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and milking cows upside down. The town has been cursed with chronic stupidity and anyone who stays longer than 24 hours becomes cursed as well. To further complicate matters, Leon has fallen in love with a girl so dumb that she just learned how to sit down! Can he break the curse in time?

“On August 26, 2018, we lost one of the greatest playwrights of all time, Neil Simon. The author of over 30 plays and nearly the same number of movie screenplays, Simon received more combined Oscar and Tony nominations than any other writer. Come and see why his legacy lives on with our hilarious production of Fools,” said LCT Producing Artistic Director, Grant Golson.

Fools is directed by Liz Golson. This production also features set design by Kit Mayer, costume design by Theresa Smerud, lighting and sound design and technical direction by Erek Weis, and stage management by Molly Brueske.

The performers are Dustin Luecke as Leon Tolchinsky, Dan Radtke as Snetsky, Rhys Wolff as Magistrate, William Garcia as Slovitch, Tom Desjarlais as Mishkin, Bonnie Jo Bratina as Yenchna, Edward Fitzgerald as Dr. Zubritsky, Angi Tamke as Lenya Zubritsky, Tegan Blank as Sophia Zubristky, Matt Springer as Gregor Yousekevitch, Susan Tomashek as Mute 1, and Devin J. Simko as Mute 2.

“A village in 19th century Ukraine is cursed with stupidity and their only hope is the new school master, Leon. Beloved American screen and stage writer, Neil Simon, delivers a nonstop laugh fest in this comedic fairytale. Come find out if true love can break the curse of Kulyenchikov,” said Director, Liz Golson.

Tickets are $24-$32 for adults, $16 for students, and may be purchased over the phone or at www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org. For questions or tickets, please call the box office at 608-784-9292 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
