LCT Announces Registration is Open for the Spring Session of Theatre for Youth Classes

La Crosse, WI – 02/26/19 – La Crosse Community Theatre announces that registration is now open for the spring session of Theatre for Youth classes. Classes meet on Saturday mornings March 16 through May 4, 2019, with no classes scheduled April 6 or 20, at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

Discover the world through theatre! Our education program reflects our mission. The goals of our education program are to provide opportunities for creativity and personal growth in a fun, collaborative environment and to celebrate human connections through communication and interactions.

Imagination Station, for age 5-7, meets from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Hats! When you put one on, you can be someone new! Hats are silly and fun! With the help of some favorite books, a couple of hats, and our imaginations, students will create their own story…and look fabulous, too!

Auditioning 1, for age 8-10, meets from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Have you ever wanted to be in a play? How do you get into a show? By auditioning of course! LCT has two shows coming up that have parts for young performers. Auditioning 1 will work on some of the skills needed to have a great audition! Learn some new improvisational games, how to do a “cold read”, and use your voice and body to audition with confidence!

Auditioning 2, for age 10-12, meets from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interested in being in a play? Want to know more about how to audition? Auditioning 2 will work on the skills every young actor needs! From basic audition manners to nailing a “cold read”, this class will help students find and play to their strengths as a performer! LCT has two shows coming up that have parts for young performers, so this class is a great leg-up on the whole process!

Speaking Shakespeare, for age 13-18, meets from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Learn how to read and understand Shakespeare! Students will learn tricks for memorization and perform different passages from Shakespeare’s works. Monologues and scenes will be individually selected for students based on their past experience with the bard. Those who took the class last fall are invited back, but new players are welcome to the stage as well!

Tuition is $55-$115 for each student. Registration may be completed through the box office or online at www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org. For questions or to register, please call the box office at 608-784-9292 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
