LCT’s Season Continues with Comedy “The Misanthrope”

vst-the-misanthrope-logo-webLa Crosse Community Theatre announces that tickets are on sale now for Moliere’s comic masterpiece, The Misanthrope. Performances begin January 26, 2017 and continue through Sunday, February 12, 2017. Shows are Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in the Veterans Studio Theatre at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

Outraged by the duplicity of “polite” society, Alceste declares that he will speak only the truth–no matter who he offends. Ironically, he’s in love with Celimene, whose wicked tongue and endless flirtations are everything he claims to hate. When his candor results in a lawsuit and showdown with Celimene, Alceste must choose between love and principle.

The Misanthrope is perfect for our Veterans Studio Theatre as it gives our audiences and volunteer performers the opportunity to experience a play rich in language in an intimate setting,” said Executive Director, David Kilpatrick.

The Misanthrope is directed by LCT’s Ryan Puffer. This production also features set and lighting design by Dillon McArdle, costume design by Irina Christel, with prop design and stage management by Dawn Havican.

The performers are Dustin Luecke as Alceste, Matt Wudi as Philinte, Avery Gerstenberger as Oronte/Guard, Hope Kirwan as Celimene, Emily Oehler as Eliante, Sara L. Adams as Arsinoe, Devin Vogel as Acaste, Joshua Knetter as Clitandre, and Dylan Matejka as Basque.

“One of the things I enjoy most about working with Moliere’s classic play is seeing how the situations and people he wrote about are still relevant to modern audiences,” said Puffer.
