LCT’s Season Continues with Holiday Classic “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play”

La Crosse Community Theatre announces that tickets are on sale now for the retelling of a holiday classic. La Crosse Community Theatre returns to the studio as a live 1940s radio broadcast of A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play. Performances begin December 8, 2016 and continue through Sunday, December 18, 2016. Shows are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in the Lyche Theatre at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

03-a-christmas-carol-logo-webIt’s 1940 and the audience is in the studios of WBFR radio station as the Dickens masterpiece A Christmas Carol is presented as a live broadcast, complete with vintage commercials, sound effects and music! This charming take on the classic story of how three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a magical journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas will leave no one saying, “Bah, Humbug!”

“Audiences always enjoy seeing how radio shows were made. And this production is particularly special for the whole family as the ghosts are created with voices and live sound effects,” said Executive Director David Kilpatrick.

Guest director April Brown returns to La Crosse Community Theatre, having previously helmed Playhouse on the Air Presents: Miracle on 34th StreetBus Stop, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This production also features musical direction by Sarah Lietzen, assisted by Michael Kruse, set and lighting design by Dillon McArdle, costume design by Brenna Gustafson, prop design by Mary Greener, sound design by Tim Harris with stage management by Ryan Brown.

The on air performers include Michael Kruse, Tom Desjarlais, Lisa K. Adams, Stacy Bruemmer, Cody Flick, Rick King Quale, Jason Rose, Joshua Swanson, Angi Tamke and Samantha White. Young performers are Georgia Galvan, Lucas Go, Owen Scott and Rachel Stuart. Studio special effects are created live by Mary Greener and Abby Kilpatrick. The always entertaining quartet includes MacKinley Bruemmer, Christine Huggett, Michael Kruse and Dominique Sicard.

April Brown is excited to do this production as “Everyone in the Western world knows this story, and it’s always fun to experience it in a different way.”
