A volunteer’s reflections

Auditions for season-opening comedy and youth outreach productions

La Crosse Community Theatre will hold auditions for its season-opening comedy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), and its youth outreach production, Stuart Little, on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28 and 29, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Weber Center for the Performing Arts, 428 Front Street South, La Crosse, WI.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, is a non-stop laugh riot featuring three actors performing all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays (give or take) in 97 minutes. Fast-paced, witty, and delightfully irreverent, The Complete Works has something for Shakespeare lovers, haters, and everyone in between.

Stuart Little is the endearing tale about an extraordinary mouse born into an ordinary family. All the charm, wisdom, and joy of E.B. White’s classic novel are captured in this delightful adaptation by Joseph Robinette. The exciting adventures–both big and small–of Stuart Little are brought vividly to life, proving that you’re never too small to make a big difference.

For The Complete Works, men ages 18 and up are invited to audition for 3 roles. Stuart Little — LCT’s youth outreach production — is designed to travel to schools and other locations, so men and women ages 18 and up with schedule flexibility are encouraged to audition for 5 roles. All are welcome regardless of experience. Scheduled auditions are preferred, but walk-ins also will be considered.

Preliminary performance dates for both shows are available online. Cast lists for both shows will be announced at noon on Friday, July 31, and cast meetings will be held that evening. Rehearsal schedules are tentatively Mondays through Fridays but final schedule will be based on casting.

Call 784-9292 to sign up to audition.

An exciting opportunity leads to change in 2015-2016 Season

02-The-Little-Mermaid-web-smWe are proud to announce that La Crosse Community Theatre will present the regional community theatre debut of Disney’s The Little Mermaid as part of our 2015–2016 season!

“I am thrilled to offer such a fun, refined production to the La Crosse area,” said LCT Artistic Director Greg Parmeter. “With the musical and dance talent we have in the region, this will be an exciting and memorable production for everyone.”

Due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be presenting Cinderella this coming season.

This change in our schedule will not affect the price of season ticket packages or the performance or audition calendars.

Please contact the box office if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support of La Crosse Community Theatre

Thank you for your support of our Theatre for Youth

On Sunday, June 21, we eY03-Wayside-smnded an incredible season with our theatre for youth production, Sideways Stories from Wayside School.  It was a special experience for all involved.  In addition to 14 wonderful performers and 6 incredible backstage crew members, we had a fantastic team of youth designers who took care of the lights, sound and assisted the costume designer.  These three individuals demonstrated that youth will give you their best if they know you expect their best.  Thank you ENTIRE team for making the production so special.

Also, I want to thank the parents for their support throughout the production. Without your commitment the schedule would not be possible.  Thank you for EVERYTHING you do for LCT.

Finally, thank you audience for attending the performances.  Theatre requires both the performer and the audience so thank you so much for fulfilling your role.

Here’s to an exciting new season, just around the corner!!

Executive Director
