Audition for LCT's Production of A Nice Family Christmas!

Audition Announcement: A Nice Family Christmas

 

Are you ready to get into the holiday spirit? Join us at LCT for auditions for the heartwarming and hilarious family comedy, "A Nice Family Christmas" by Phil Olson! This play is a delightful exploration of the ups and downs of family dynamics during the holiday season, filled with laughter, love, and a few surprises along the way.

 

  • Auditions will be held at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts Monday, October 2nd from 6-9pm. To sign up for auditions, click here.
  • Callbacks will be held Tuesday, October 3rd from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. 
  • Rehearsals will begin on October 16th

 

Performances will run on Fridays and Saturdays from November 24th–December 16th in the Veteran’s Studio Theatre at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

December 9th will not be a performance due to LCT’s Holiday Gala, that weekend's performances will be held on Friday and a Sunday Matinee.

 

Please note- The final week of rehearsals (tech and dress) will occur the week of Thanksgiving. There will be no rehearsal on November 23rd (Thanksgiving), but availability for that week is required outside of the 23rd.

 

Characters

 

Carl (20s/30s) – the middle brother. Grew up in the shadow of his older brother, Michael, the doctor. He has a little inferiority complex brought on by Michael. He writes a column for the Minneapolis Star Tribune newspaper.

Mom (50s/60s) – Very nice. Always putting on a happy face, her goal is to keep the peace and get through the family event without an incident. Mom’s husband (Carl Sr.), died three years ago. She’s doing her best to get over the loss and keep everyone happy.

Grandma (70s/80s) –  A real character. Grew up in a one-room house with ten brothers on a farm in North Dakota. Had a very tough life growing up. She is tough as nails and wants everyone else to be too.

Michael (20s/30s) – The older brother. The doctor. A little nerdy. Wears a bow tie. The favorite son, at least at first. He’s a little self-absorbed, a little blind to what he needs to do to keep his marriage to Jill intact.

Stacy (20s/30s) – The younger sister. Nice. Kind of wholesome midwestern innocence. Overlooked, but not angry about it.

Uncle Bob (50s/60s) – A partier. Fun-loving. Has an agenda. Everyone has a crazy Uncle Bob.

Jill (20s/30s) – Michael’s trophy wife. Emotional from being hormonal. Sometimes a little spacey. The only one who understands Grandma’s crazy sayings. Wants to make her marriage work with Michael if he can prove he loves her.
